Vaser Liposuction

VIVE PLASTIC SURGERY

Unfortunately, diet and exercise are sometimes not enough to banish the stubborn fat deposits on the abdomen, flanks and thighs. Fortunately, Vive Plastic Surgery now offers VASERlipo® — a safe, advanced, body-contouring technology that removes fat from around large muscle groups and make your body look more defined.

For many of our Vive patients, choosing VASERlipo® is as much about removing excess fat as it is about self-confidence.

Body contouring – including VASERlipo® — is a creative endeavor that improves a woman’s physical beauty and enhances her self-confidence. Vive plastic surgery and it’s staff are dedicated to providing women in Tijuana with excellent results and the highest quality of care possible.

What is Vaser Liposuction?

VASER stands for Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance. This high-tech, hand-held device uses ultrasound (sound waves) to liquefy fat under the surface of the skin. The liquefied fat is then suctioned from the body using a small tube called a cannula. The advantage of VASERlipo® is that the sound waves target only the fat cells, which makes them much easier to remove.

VASERlipo® is used to remove areas of fat deposits that cannot be reduced through diet and exercise. Since VASERlipo® is highly targeted, it can be used on virtually any part of the body. Although most commonly used on the abdomen, hips and thighs, VASERlipo® can also be used to reduce fatty tissue on the arms, under the chin, or calves. VASERlipo® is not a substitute for weight loss or for healthy habits.

What's the difference between liposuction and Vaser Lipo?

There are several differences between traditional liposuction and VASERlipo®. With traditional liposuction, fluid containing an intravenous salt solution, lidocaine (a local anesthetic) and epinephrine (a medication that helps to contract blood vessels and limit blood loss) is injected into the fatty tissue. After this fluid is injected, a cannula is used to suction the fat cells and the injected fluid directly from under the skin.

VASERlipo® uses ultrasound to liquefy the fat cells after the tumescent fluid has been injected. The liquid fat cells are then suctioned directly from under the skin. There is less trauma to the surrounding tissue and less bruising. Recovery after VASERlipo® is generally faster than recovery following tradition liposuction

How much fat can be removed using VASERlipo®?

VASERlipo® is used for body contouring and not for weight loss. In order to prevent complications secondary to fluid shift in your body, it is not recommended removing more than five liters of fat during your VASERlipo® procedure.

Am I the ideal candidate for VASERlipo®?

You are a good candidate for VASERlipo® if you are not overweight, your weight is stable, and you have fat deposits that have not responded to diet or exercise. You should also have a healthy lifestyle, not smoke, and not have a condition that would interfere with healing. Successful candidates have good skin quality and realistic expectations. The best way to find out if you’re a good candidate for VASERlipo® is to schedule a consultation with Vive Plastic Surgery at our Tijuana Office.

VASERlipo® Procedure in Tijuana

Your VASERlipo® will be performed at an outpatient surgery center in Tijuana. Although local anesthesia may be sufficient for small areas, most patients are more comfortable with general anesthesia. Depending upon the number and size of the areas that are being treated, your VASERlipo® will take between one and three hours.

Your Doctor will make marks on your body to indicate the locations that will receive VASERlipo® and he will decide how each area will look following the procedure. Once the anesthesia is administered, your doctor will make tiny incisions in each area targeted for fat removal. Tumescent fluid will be infiltrated under the skin. He/She will then gently insert the VASERlipo® cannula (a thin tube that looks like a pen) under your skin. As the cannula is being moved back and forth, the sound waves will break apart your fat cells and turn them into liquid form.

Next, your Doctor will insert a second cannula under your skin. She will then use suction to remove the liquefied fat. Your incisions are very small and stitches will be placed.
